Jack Neo Rumored to Release Next ABTM Movie: You Won't Expect This!

Taking into account the Singaporean pride in having our own sons sent to the military for two years to serve and protect, Jack Neo decided to make a movie out of it and launched what would be a highly-demanded Ah Boys to Men movie in November of 2012, a national hit which grossed over S$6 million domestically.

Shortly after came Ah Boys to Men 2, which was split into two parts to keep viewers in suspense (smart move!), and earned JTeam Productions just over S$12 million from the local box office.

And just earlier this year, Jack Neo released his latest addition to the ABTM Franchise: Ah Boys to Frogmen, which was a huge hit among Singaporeans young and old, and grossed over S$6.2 million. Now that's a lot of money.

Now, rumor has it that Jack Neo, founder and CEO of JTeam Productions, will be releasing his latest addition to the franchise:

Ah Boys to Detention Barracks (ABTDB)

The star-studded cast include the usual cast from the his previous films, Maxi Lim, Wei Liang ("Lobang King"), Joshua Ang, and lead actor of the show Noah Yap, and will showcase the hardships that active NSFs undergo during their incarceration phase for committing acts deemed illegal by the Singapore Army.

This move might have came after Jack Neo had a brilliant idea on creating yet another film about Singapore's Army, and how those who make costly mistakes undergo detention at the Singapore Armed Forces Detention Barracks (DB). And who else would fit the starring role other than Noah Yap, who was never the main lead in any of Jack's previous movies.

Noah Yap, initially known for his local humor in his videos that he uploaded on his YouTube Channel dating back to 2009, gained additional fame after being offered an acting role in JTeam's movies and as a calefare on most of Jack's movies. He was spotted actively preparing for his role by offering to stay in the SAF Detention Barracks located at Lorong Kebasi, and get into character by actually being held in police custody.

Noah, who is still serving his 2-year National Service period, seems like the most suitable candidate to play the leading role for the film.

However, complications has arisen for Jack Neo and the JTeam after Noah, who wanted to get into character so badly, was caught smoking a controlled and prohibited substance earlier this year in July.

Earlier this year in July, local authorities caught Noah Yap smoking Marijuana, a substance banned in Singapore also known as "Pot", "Weed", "Mary-Jane", "Grass"

His efforts to evade the authorities by claiming that he was simply "getting into character" for the movie proved futile as he was arrested on the spot and taken into Cantonment Police Complex for further urine checks to test if he had consumed other banned substances to allegedly "get into character". Lucky for Noah, the only substance found in his urine was THC, a chemical from the consumption of marijuana that sticks in the human bloodstreams for up to three months.

Many speculate that the movie, set to be released in June 2017, will not be completed by its planned release date as Noah will have to serve his sentence for possessing and consuming the drug, which is estimated to be between 10-15 months.

Noah, who is frequently spotted in local nightclub Zouk with the rest of the ABTM crew and Rapper Shigga Shay, declined to comment when contacted by SGTMZ (Unofficial).

Marijuana is a strictly controlled substance in Singapore, together with other drugs such as heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and many others. There are some who do make the occasional mistake of consuming these drugs unintentionally under peer pressure, but manage to get away with it undetected. Mr Yap was one of the unfortunate cases which did not manage to consume the drug undetected, and now has to face the consequences.

Mr Yap is currently on bail and is set to return to court later this month, where he will be taken into custody if found guilty of consuming marijuana. His sponsors are also looking to drop him as their ambassadors upon the final Court Order.

SGTMZ (Unofficial) wishes to take this chance to urge the rest of the public to never go against the law and consume any type of controlled substances in Singapore.
